Who’s the best cover?

Chris Cornell covered Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” into a rock version in his album Chris Cornell: Unplugged in Sweden last 2007. While David Cook of American Idol 7 covered the covered song on the American Idol challenge last week. Lots of the two artists fans are arguing who did best? Chris or David?

Well, let’s not forget to give credit to Michael Jackson who have done the original pop version of the song and had come up with the original lyrics, arrangement and flipping. He truly deserves the credit.

But for the rock version, I admire Chris Cornell for his very creative arrangement and original idea to change MJ’s song. He made it very soulful and very astonishing. Well, actually in my opinion David Cook cannot do his cover song without the original cover made by Chris right?

David Cook sang the song well and his got good points from Idol for that. But its wrong for the judges part to partly forget that it isn’t Cook’s version but from singer Cornell who had done the original rock arrangement of the song.

So for me, in the case of the rock version of Billie Jean.. Chris Cornell must take full credit.
