One of the most interesting novels I read about is the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. It is a fiction/mystery novel with discussions on the debate about the divination of Jesus Christ. It is really fascinating because some person may feel that they have lost their religious faith upon finishing the novel. Though the novel is fictional some of the topics involve are considered to be true. And some are great discussions for religious debate.

The Da Vinci Code has stirred up a lot of criticisms especially from the Roman Catholic Church. This is because of the stand that the author had made with his novel. Though its fictional, you cannot help but wonder if what the DaVinci Code is saying is true or not.

Dan Brown has really touch a very sensitive subject especially when he mentioned that the Gospel was only made up or edited by humans during Constantine’s time. As we all know the Gospel was made up of only 4 Gospels from 4 authors. But on his novel, Dan Brown had insists that the Gospel was made by a lot of authors not only the four apostles. Some of the writings, according to the Da Vinci Code has been ignored, buried and destroyed but the Catholic Church after the meeting on Nicea. In the book the author also said that maybe Jesus himself has written something about himself, an autobiography, but was not published due to the selection made on that meeting.

Another point that is argued upon is the divination of Jesus Christ. On the Bible, Jesus never married which is a complete opposite on what the Da Vinci Code had proclaimed. According to the novel Jesus was married and the lucky woman was Mary Magdalene. The novel also point out one of the custom of the Jews on the time that Jesu Christ had lived, “all Jews must be married at the right age”. So if he had to follow the custom as a good citizen then he has to marry. Confusing isn’t it?

That’s why the Da Vinci Code was subject to criticisms. It had made very controversial issues which made some of the countries to ban, boycott and refuse to allow the film to show (yes, there is a movie, starring Tom Hanks).

Another organization which had entailed a very strong criticism against the Da Vinci code Movie and Novel is the Opus Dei, a branch of the Catholic church which was depicted as an organization which encourages self-infliction and self suffering. Opus Dei denied all of this and said that their organization is different compared to what the novel had assumed.

Well, amongst these controversies, the author Dan Brown had asserted that the Da Vinci Code is just fiction and nothing else. He just wanted to explore what he know about and his interest on the subject. Well, i guess it all ends up on how the readers view or interpret a certain reading.
