M. Night Shyamalan first R rated film, The Happening, will be in theaters this coming June 13, 2008. June 13 falls on the superstitious bad day Friday the 13th to promote the terrifying background of the movie. The Happening stars Mark Wahlberg as the protagonist high school science teacher, Elliot Moore and Zooey Deschanel as Elliot’s estrange wife Alma Moore. Together they will run for their lives from an unknown pandemic where the victim will experience loss of speech, physical disorientation and attempt suicide by very violent means. M. Night Shyamalan also co-produces this film along with Barry Mendel. Other cast includes John Leguizamo as Julian, a high school math teacher and Elliot’s friend; Ashlyn Sanchez as Jess, Julian’s daughter; Betty Buckley as Mrs Jones; M. Night Shyamalan himself as Joey and many more.
